A well-deserved accolade for Jesse
Kriel and his 6 Springbok teammates were well deserving of being included in this Dream Team as South Africa dominated in 2024, winning 11 out of 13 test matches and several trophies: The Qatar Airways Cup, The Nelson Mandela Challenge Plate, the Freedom Cup, the Rugby Championship and the Prince William Cup. Kriel played a critical role in these successes, scoring 3 tries and starting in the most important matches alongside De Allende. His experience, defensive organisation and general rugby nous helped the Bok team dominate throughout the year.
PSDST wins World Player of the Year
Star South African flanker Pieter-Steph Du Toit was the big winner of the night as he won the World Rugby Men’s 15s Player of the Year award. Du Toit won this prestigious accolade for the second time, after also being named World Rugby Men’s 15s Player of the Year in 2019, He joins a select group of players who won this Award more than once, with former All Blacks players Dan Carter and Richie McCaw winning it 3 times, and current All Blacks player Beauden Barrett winning it twice.
Well done to Jesse and our Springbok team for an outstanding year- here’s to an even better year in 2025!
